Reading proficiency is crucial to success. New York State standards mandate higher level thinking and processing of written materials. The reading laboratory teaches students pre-reading strategies aiding comprehension and strengthening response abilities. Focusing skills, self-monitoring of comprehension, confirmations of prediction and retaining salience will be practiced. Post reading organizational approaches will be reinforced.
Organized into graded levels of reading instruction, the program is available to students functioning at remedial/corrective levels of reading ability.
