Assistant Principal

Welcome to Sayville Middle School!

FROM YOUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

It is my absolute pleasure for the opportunity to work with the students of such an incredible community here in Sayville. Sayville takes great pride in providing countless opportunities for all of its students and I am so happy to be a part of that process. My job at the Middle School includes all aspects of student management, scheduling, conflict resolution, chairing building level meetings, and proving our students the tools necessary to bridge the gap between elementary school and high school. If I can be of assistance to you in any of these areas or you would like to contact me, please feel free to do so.

Hello. I am Brian Decker, and I am the Assistant Principal of Sayville Middle School. This is my fifth year in this position and twentieth year here in the district. I previously worked at Sayville High School as the Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, and the Summer School Principal. Prior to that, I was a physical education teacher here at the middle school and at Sunrise Drive Elementary School.  I am extremely fortunate to have served as both a teacher and an administrator here in Sayville. I am a lifelong learner who is currently enrolled in the Higher Education Administration Program at Stony brook University. I hope to someday bring my K-12 experience into the higher education arena.

When I am not working in Sayville I enjoy fishing, walking, and spending time with my wife and seven year old son. We enjoy spending time on our south shore beaches during the summer and frequently travel to Ireland to spend time with family and friends.

Socially and emotionally, middle school can be extremely difficult for our students and our parents. I am here to help everyone maneuver through some of the obstacles and to get over some of the speed bumps that our students often face during these three years.  Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions throughout the year.
