The Sayville Middle School Jazz Band is an auditioned ensemble comprised of 6th,7th, and 8th grade students. This ensemble provides the opportunity for advanced students to learn and perform in a jazz ensemble setting. Students learn to play in four major genres: Swing, Rock, Ballads, and Latin. Members will also be instructed in jazz improvisation and gain fundamental knowledge of improvisation and scale relationships. The Middle School Jazz Band fosters citizenship skills through several community performances throughout the academic year.
